Leadership and safety come naturally to Reddaway team member Todd Boldin. He conquered Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and now he’s crushing it in his role as Northern Division Safety Manager at Reddaway. Learn more about Todd…
Destined for Driving
Growing up in a logging family in Alabama, Todd was acquainted with large vehicles and heavy equipment at the young age of 8. The dedication and work ethic he has today no doubt come from his family who was always doing hard labor – cutting, skidding, processing, and transporting large logs.
For a short period of time Todd drove for his parents to help them transport lumber and this is when he picked up his driving skills. Driving a truck full of huge logs certainly wasn’t easy to manage. With everyone around him working in the transportation industry, he was destined to end up where he is today.
Todd joined the Air Force as a young man, specializing in Combat Search and Rescue. He went through extensive training including Navy Seal training, survival school, medical training, and weapons training. Then in 1991 he was deployed to the United Arab Emirates during Operation Desert Storm/ Shield.
On the Reddaway Team
While driving line haul for another trucking company Todd heard about Reddaway through a friend and decided to apply. He wasn’t quite satisfied with his job at the time and heard Reddaway was a great company to work for. Todd started out as a line haul driver with us in 1994 and has earned a record of over 1 million accident-free miles.
“Reddaway is a great place to work. They can take you anywhere,” says Todd.
Just recently, however, Todd was promoted to Northern Division Safety Manager because of his leadership and attention to safety. As Safety Manager Todd is responsible for assisting terminal managers with accident prevention, making sure trucks and docks are safe, managing training programs, and training drivers. Early mornings are typical for Todd and he often starts off his work days by visiting the docks and making sure everything is up to code.
This position is one of the most important in the transportation industry because when docks are safe and set up efficiently, everything else runs smoothly from there. Having a dedicated Safety Manager means having safer drivers on the road, safer working conditions, and fewer accidents.
“I will continue to learn and work hard to be the best asset to the company as a safety manager to ensure that Reddaway is the safest work environment it can be,” says Todd.
Since his promotion, Todd has had even more time to spend with his wife Katie and their dog Bacho, which he is very happy about. He and his wife have 6 kids who they couldn’t be more proud of. Their daughter Sarah recently graduated from high school and now works with children with disabilities, so congratulations goes out to her! Sunday dinners used to be a regular occurrence for the whole family, but as the kids get older they see each other as much as they can and Todd cherishes that time.
Todd regularly attends the State and National Truck Driving Championships held in Oregon, California and Utah to support Reddaway drivers. He even helps set up the events sometimes. His loving wife often goes with him for support and he’s always happy to have her there.
Safety is one of our highest priorities at Reddaway, so we appreciate Todd’s dedication to creating and maintaining a safe environment. Thank you for your service and your hard work, Todd!
